Elizabeth Igne Ferreira

Trajetória

Possui graduação em Farmácia e Bioquímica pela Universidade de São Paulo (1972), mestrado em Tecnologia Bioquímico-Farmacêutica pela Universidade de São Paulo (1979) e doutorado em Química Orgânica pela Universidade de São Paulo (1987). É docente da Faculdade de Ciências Farmacêuticas, USP, desde abril de 1974. Em 1990, fez estágio pós-doutorado de curta duração em Modelagem molecular no College of Pharmacy, University of Illinois at Chicago, supervisionado pelo Prof. Anton J. Hopfinger e com Bolsa do BID. Professora titular da Faculdade de Ciências Farmacêuticas, Universidade de São Paulo, no campus de São Paulo, desde 2001. Atua na área de Química Farmacêutica, em Planejamento de novos fármacos na área de doenças negligenciadas, especialmente, de antimaláricos, antichagásicos, leishmanicidas e tuberculostáticos potenciais, utilizando os processos de latenciação e de planejamento racional. Foi assessora técnica da Pró-Reitoria de Pós-graduação, no período de 2003 a 2005, gestão da Pró-Reitora Suely Vilela, e, de 2005 a 2009, da Reitoria, gestão da Reitora Suely Vilela. Foi assessora técnica no Programa USP Internacional, no período de abril a dezembro de 2014. Foi Presidente da Comissão de Relações Internacionais da Faculdade de Ciências Farmacêuticas, USP, no período de 2011 a 2016. Coordenou o Programa de Pós-Graduação em Fármaco e Medicamentos de 2002 a setembro de 2014. Desde março de 2014 é Chefe do Departamento de Farmácia da FCF, USP, com mandato até março de 2018. É membro do CGA do INCt-INOFAR desde 2014. É editora científica do Brazilian Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences desde 1996. Nomeada em 20/05/2015 representante da Faculdade de Ciências Farmacêuticas, USP, no Conselho Deliberativo da FURP, Fundação para o Remédio Popular, até 2018. É membro do Expert Committee of Nomenclature and Labeling da United States Pharmacopeia, desde 2015.

Jeanine Giarolla Vargas

Associate professor

Graduated in Pharmaceutical Sciences from Pontifical Catholic University of Campinas (2004), Master and PhD in Pharmacy and Medicine from University of São Paulo (2007 and 2012, respectively), PhD training in England, University of Central Lancashire (2011) and Post-Doc in Pharmacy and Medicine in University of São Paulo (2015).  Currently hold a position as associate professor in Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences in University of São Paulo. 

Research area

Design and synthesis of potentially active compounds against neglected diseases, with emphasis on obtaining prodrugs planned with dendrimers as carriers; molecular modeling applied as computational tools to assist synthetic strategies, as well as to predict the interaction between the dendrimer prodrugs and biological targets; chemical and enzymatic stability studies to evaluate the hydrolysis profile of labile compounds.

Post-doc

Pone Boniface

Pone Kamdem Boniface received his B.Sc. (2002), Postgraduate Diploma (2004), and Master (2006) degrees all in Biochemistry (Minor: Clinical Biochemistry and Pharmacology) from the University of Dschang, Cameroon under the guidance of Prof. Tchouanguep Mbiapo Felicite. He was awarded a Ph.D. (2014) in Life Sciences (Minor: Biochemistry, Biotechnology and Bioinformatics) from Jawaharlal Nehru University (India) under the direction of Dr. Anirban Pal. He held a postdoctoral position (2015-2017) on “Synthesis of coumarin derivatives that could be anticancers, antituberculars and antimalarials” under the direction of Prof. Carlos Roland Kaiser and Prof. Sabrina Baptista Ferreira at the Institute of Chemistry of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. He is currently a postdoctoral researcher in Prof. Elizabeth Igne Ferreira’s research group at the University of Sao Paulo. His research interests  focus on design and synthesis of flavonoid derivatives and their  application on neglected tropical diseases like leishmaniasis and Chagas disease.

Rodrigo graduated in Pharmacy at Nove de Julho University (2012) and obtained his Master degree in Sciences at Lapen – Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences – University of Sao Paulo (2017). He is currently a PhD student at Lapen.

João Vitor Da Silva

Graduated in Pharmacy at Paulista University - UNIP (2015), he has been studying MSc at LAPEN in University of São Paulo, funded by CNPq scholarship. He works in Medicinal Chemistry area with emphasis in prodrug, dendrimers, peptide dendrimers, solid-phase synthesis, chemical and enzymatic stability studies. He also collaborates in student's parallel projects.

Luccas Missfeldt Sanches

Bachelor's degree in Molecular Sciences (2015) and Pharmacy-Biochemistry (2018), both by University of São Paulo (USP).  From 2013 to 2016, conducted a Scientific Trainee in the Biocolloids Laboratory (Chemistry Institute - USP), which provided experience in antimicrobial nanoparticles synthesis, characterization and microbiology. Currently is a PhD student at Lapen, with a focus in improving malaria treatment employing dendrimeric architectures to create prodrugs that target infected erythrocytes.

Charles de Lima Brito

Graduated in Chemistry from the Prebisteriana Mackenzie University (2001) and a Master's Degree in Pharmaceutical and Pharmaceutical Sciences from the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences of the University of São Paulo - FCF / USP (2011). He is currently a doctoral student and chemical technician in the Pharmaceutical Planning Laboratory of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, working on the following topics: Pharmaceutical Planning, Potential Antichagastics, Analytical Chemistry, with emphasis on Electroanalytical studies of mechanisms of electrochemical reactions and analytical methodology development aiming at direct application in the biological area, mainly focusing on Negligible Diseases; acting mainly in the following subjects: voltammetric techniques, mechanism of action, drug analysis, chemically modified electrodes and biosensors.

Diego Prieto

Graduated in Pharmacy and Biochemistry at the University of São Paulo. Has experience in medicinal chemistry, and from February 2013 to July 2014 attended the Laboratory of Synthesis of Drugs, under the guidance of Professor Dr. Roberto Parise Filho. At that time, he improved his practice in organic synthesis applied to drugs, more specifically reductive amination and alkylation of amines, performing experiments such as recrystallization, column chromatography and thin layer chromatography, 13C / 1 H NMR spectral readings. In addition he carried out projects in the area of ​​pharmaceutical care, more precisely in pharmacotherapeutic follow-up. Currently, he is carrying out a Mater's project in the area of Medicinal Chemistry with synthesis of dendrimeric prodrugs for neglected diseases in LAPEN under the guidance of the professor Dr. Jeanine Giarolla Vargas.
